Course Description
This course focuses on the maintenance of health and the prevention and treatment of diseases. As well as learning the fundamentals of Biology, Biological Systems and Human Health and Disease, the qualification covers health, physiology, pharmacology, physiological measurement, clinical testing and medical research.
Support learner progression into higher education or employment; for learners who have a keen interest in science but who also want to develop their interpersonal and practical skills; perfect for learners who would like to pursue a career in the health-related or science-related sector.
Entry Criteria
GCSE Double award science CC or above or separate science at C or above as well as English and Maths or Numeracy at C or above
As part of the application process, you will be asked to attend an interview to give you the opportunity to discuss the course.
Progression to the Diploma is based on your performance studying the Certificate. For the certificate you must pass all 3 units you study.

Welsh Baccalaureate
Welsh Baccalaureate is a valuable qualification which is often studied alongside your Level 3 full-time course.
The qualification is graded A*-E, carrying the equivalent UCAS points at Level 3, and equips you with transferable personal and business skills. It is highly regarded by universities and employers alike.
As part of the qualification, you will learn about Global Citizenship, Enterprise and Employability and take part in community engagement and work experience.
Essential Skills
This may include a combination of Application of Number, Communication, Digital Literacy and Essential Employability Skills
GCSE resits
This may include GCSE Numeracy/Maths and/or Welsh/English Language.
Maths & Welsh/English
If you don't achieve a C or above in Maths and/ or English/Welsh, we will support you to retake these subjects as part of your study programme.
Assessment
The course is a mixture of internally and externally assessed tasks accounting for over 60% of the course, and two examinations accounting for the remainder of the course. It is worth noting that in order to gain A*- C grades there is a minimum mark that must be achieved in these examinations.
