Please contact us for further information about applying for this course.

Course Description

Level 2 Foundation Apprentices work directly with individuals who have a range of needs to encourage and promote their independence and support their overall health and wellbeing, enabling the individuals to meet their full potential. The apprentices will do this by contributing to assessment within the care provision, which includes a wide variety of activities, including supporting carers & families.

The qualification will provide a thorough introduction to the principles, values and knowledge needed to work in the healthcare and social care sectors with adults and children and young people.

The qualification is mainly practice-based and assesses learners’ knowledge and competence to practice. It develops the learner’s ability to practically support the health and care needs of adults in a range of settings and will enable them to develop and demonstrate their knowledge, understanding, behaviours, skills and practice within a health and social care setting

Entry Criteria

  • Learners must be employed in a suitable Health & Social care setting
  • GCSE’s grades G or above (or equivalent grades) in English / Welsh and Maths. Learners without these grades may be required to upskill first and will need to complete Level 1 essential skills qualifications in Communication and Application of Number.
  • Learners must be at least 18 years of age to achieve this qualification.

Delivery

  • Pass three externally-set scenario-based assessments that are marked in the centre and can be taken throughout the qualification or at the end
  • Pass one externally-set, externally-marked multiple choice test.

The qualification is practice-based and assesses learners’ knowledge and competence to practice. It develops the learner’s ability to practically support the health and care needs of adults in a range of settings and will enable them to develop and demonstrate their knowledge, understanding, behaviours, skills and practice within a health and social care setting.
