Course Description
Registered Gas Safe engineers who need to renew their ACS qualifications.
Areas of Work:
Core elements: Core elements:
● Gas safety regulations, Building Regulations, British Standards and other relevant legislation
● Unsafe situations and the steps to take in an emergency
● LPG cylinder location features, safety and sizes
● Operation and positioning for emergency isolation, flow control and cylinder valves
● Pressure of supplies
● Gas pipes (including sizes, installation, defects and faults)
● Tightness testing and cleaning (PD)
● Flu and ventilation
● Combustion
● Combustion performance analysis (flue gas tests)
● Equipment controls
Equipment:
● Gas safety regulations, Building Regulations, British Standards and other relevant legislation
● Installation
● Commissioning and fault detection
● Servicing procedures
● Unsafe situations
Entry Criteria
Previous held ACS qualifications
This course is suitable for engineers who have the necessary qualifications to be admitted onto the ACS Scheme. Run by the Strategic Management Board for the industry, successful completion of this course will enable an engineer to register with Gas Safe.
Engineers are classified into 3 categories:
- Category 1 – Experienced practicing gas fitting operative
- Category 2 – Applicant with relevant mechanical engineering/fitting qualifications/experience
- Category 3 – New entrant without relevant qualifications/experience
Additional Information:
On the day of training you will need to bring with you:
- 1 x passport sized photographs
- Original copies of expired/expiring ACS qualifications
- Note taking material (recording devices not allowed)
- A calculator (not part of a smart phone application) which we can provide you with on the day
