Course Description

Do you want to gain recognition of your existing polymer skills or learn new polymer processing skills, then this qualification will provide recognition of the skills and knowledge of individuals working in the Polymer and Polymer Composite sectors.

The qualification contains one Mandatory unit which covers Health and Safety and then learners may choose from Optional units covering starting up, maintaining and shutting down a machine-based production process, inspecting and finishing products, carrying out testing and sampling and other tasks undertaken within the Polymer Industry.

It is suitable for process operators who work within an organisational context that provides them with procedures to work to and criteria for making decisions and taking actions. The process operation may relate to continuous or batch production and may be a primary or secondary operation.

The groups of optional units make the qualification suitable for a wide a range of job roles within the polymer processing sector.

Job Roles • Process Setter/ Operator • Quality Control Inspector • Finishing & Assembly Operative • Process Operator/ Technician.

• Motivation to succeed within industry

• An awareness of the demands of the Apprenticeship

• Willingness to comply with employer/training provider terms and conditions of employment

• Have the ability to apply learning in the workplace

• Willingness to work with due regard to Health and Safety of self and others

• Effective communication with a range of people.

You will need an employer sponsor to enable the workplace evidence component of this qualification to be completed.

GQA-PAA\VQ-SET Level 3 Diploma in Polymer Operations

The Level 3 Certificate in Polymer Operations covers health, safety HSG65 principles and ISO14001 environmental requirements, diagnosing and dealing with process problems, six-point technique, configuring process systems and optimising process operations, which can include autonomous maintenance of polymer processing plant. Learners may then choose from Optional Units covering carrying out routine servicing, complex sampling operations, providing technical support and planning polymer process activities.
