Course Description
This course develops the skills and knowledge to prepare you for work in a variety of engineering roles in both the technical support and manufacturing industries.
The course is a mix of hands-on tasks in industry standard workshops and classroom activities to build understanding of engineering principles.
The qualification is valued by local and international employers and will prepare you for both work-related and educational progress.
Entry Criteria
In order to qualify for this course you will need at least one of the following:
- 3 GCSEs A*- D and 1 GCSE at grade E, including English or Welsh 1st Language and Maths or Numeracy
- Successful completion of Engineering Craft Level 1
- Successful completion of a Foundation Engineering Level 1 or 2 (Llangefni only)
As part of the application process you must attend an interview to discuss the course.

- Realistic workshop tasks
- Classroom activities

If you don't achieve a C or above in Maths and/ or English/Welsh, we will support you to retake these subjects as part of your study programme.
Assessment
The programme will be assessed through a blend of the following:
- Practical assessment
- Online assessment
- Oral questioning
- Written questions
- Short learner task sheets for you to complete independently
Progression
Successful completion of this course will give you the opportunity to progress to Engineering Craft Level 3 or Apprenticeship Level 3 in Engineering.
Alternatively, you could apply for an apprenticeship with a local company and attend further training on a day release basis.
