Course Description

NHS Wales Facilities Services manage, maintain and improve the NHS functionality and properties within the organisation, working in partnership to create efficient, sustainable and modern healthcare and working environments. This qualification has been designed to give a standardised grounding for all staff involved in providing facilities services within the NHS in Wales.

This qualification is designed for facilities services workers providing support in hospital, community and domiciliary settings, under the direction of various facilities areas. It provides a core qualification that recognises roles currently undertaken by facilities services workers working within a variety of roles contributing to the facilities of the NHS in Wales.

To undertake this qualification, learners must be employed in roles where facilities services are central to their role. The qualification has been developed to provide better standardisation of practice in Wales through external quality assurance for this area of work.

It is the preferred qualification for NHS Wales, and the expectation that all facilities services workers will have the opportunity to complete the qualification and/or to achieve elements of it for continuing professional development to support changes in practice over time.
