Course Description
Do you love Gaming? Is that something you are passionate about? Do you want to make a career out of it?
Then, this course is for you! We have a dedicated brand new state of the art Gaming Hub fitted with the very best equipment (Razer, MSi, Asus, Playsation, etc…)
Esports is part of a multi billion pound global industry with no physical barriers.
In 2020, 1200 people were directly employed in the Gaming industry, that;s without all the jobs that are linked to Gaming! This is a growing number.
You have real career prospects in the UK, US, Asia, Europe and many more!
This qualification will enable you to work into the Esports industry. You can also work in Football or Rugby for example as a Data Analyst or other sports You can also work in marketing, or take on a technology based career. It is an opportunity to upskill and progress your career into this new area of business . After graduation from college, you could also apply for higher education or foundation degrees within the esport, sport, business and leisure industries. Even David Beckham is getting in on the act!
The qualification is with a world-leading organisation, Pearson, and includes a breadth of transferable skills that enable learners to experience different areas of esports to aid their progression to employment, either directly or via further study. Esports provides an opportunity for alignment of social, physical, mental and financial skills into one qualification to deepen and expand learning. These are skills that are highly valued in the changing and fluid workplace. Learners must apply strategy, skill and teamwork to be successful. We work with Esport Wales to offer various national events, tournaments and a chance to play and share with other people as well as try out for national teams.
The course is backed and supported by the British Esports association and we are part of the British Esports Championship.
We have our own E sports team called Llandrillo Dragons which you can become part of and you will support during your studies.
Entry Criteria
- 5 GCSE’s at C or above including English or Welsh 1st language and Maths.
- A relevant level 2 qualification at merit
- Relevant industry experience

You will study in a dedicated Gaming Hub using specialist hardware and the latest technology. Learning is participative, informal and full of opportunities for individual exploration and creativity.

- The Welsh Baccalaureate
Welsh Baccalaureate
Welsh Baccalaureate is a valuable qualification which is often studied alongside your Level 3 full-time course.
The qualification is graded A*-E, carrying the equivalent UCAS points at Level 3, and equips you with transferable personal and business skills. It is highly regarded by universities and employers alike.
As part of the qualification, you will learn about Global Citizenship, Enterprise and Employability and take part in community engagement and work experience.
Essential Skills
This may include a combination of Application of Number, Communication, Digital Literacy and Essential Employability Skills
GCSE resits
This may include GCSE Numeracy/Maths and/or Welsh/English Language.
Maths & Welsh/English
If you don't achieve a C or above in Maths and/ or English/Welsh, we will support you to retake these subjects as part of your study programme.

Progression
After successful completion of the course you will have the opportunity to progress onto the Extended Diploma for a further year. There are also a number of opportunities with Higher Education with a number of Universities offering a BA (Hons) in Esports. The primary focus of the course is supporting Esports employment across a range of roles within esports. Jobs that are available in these areas include:
