IMI Level 3 Award in MOT Test Centre Management

Short Course

Course Description

This qualification is designed for those managing an MOT test centre, but who are not responsible for undertaking MOT tests. There are no eligibility criteria for those wishing to apply for the MOT Test Centre Management qualification.

Entry Criteria

Candidates must have a current and full UK driving licence for the vehicle classes they want to test, be a skilled mechanic with at least 4 years full-time employment in the service and repair of the vehicle types to be tested. (Apprentices who have been employed for 4 years are eligible), have no unspent convictions for criminal offences connected with the MOT testing scheme or the motor trade or involving acts of violence or intimidation, be ‘of good repute’, to become a nominated tester (NT) for class 3, 4, 5 or 7 vehicles they must also have an ‘appropriate’ level 3 qualification.

Delivery

The learning programme involves learners studying both the theory and practical aspects.

Assessment

A practical assessment and an online test.

Progression

Completion of this course will give you the fundamental skills and knowledge to work in the vehicle industry.

Due to technological advancements, companies in manufacture, retail, distribution, servicing and accident repair are constantly seeking to bring young people into this fast-changing industry.

The course will also prepare you for studying at a more advanced level.

You could also apply for a Modern Apprenticeship.
