Course Description

  • Cutting Tools Selection
  • Calculating Speed & Feeds for a given material
  • Work Holding Setting Procedures
  • Tool management, measuring length and diameter by using an optical pre-setting machine and use of manually technique too.
  • Setting Datums and understanding the use of G54 – G59 coordinates
  • Loading and storing programmes

Entry Criteria

None.

Delivery

Following practical examples and illustrations, you will be independently programming on a software before machining.

Assessment

There are 3 assessment tasks to program and manufacture as well as knowledge-based questions.

Progression

There are other short courses within the Engineering department to attend such as CAD, Introduction to Robotics and also Welding.
