Course Description
A professional qualification formally recognising the knowledge and skills required to support the widely divergent learning needs of adults and young people. Offering progression opportunities for those who provide learning support , by recognising different levels of responsibility within educational settings.
Entry Criteria
Learners must be:
- At least 18 years of age to achieve this qualification.
- Willing to demonstrate their skills in a practical setting, so would need to be either employed, on work experience or volunteering in a support role working with adults and young people with additional learning needs.
- Competent in communication skills at Level 2 or above in order to properly support adults and young people to work towards their learning pathway.
Delivery
The course is delivered through a blend of the following:
- Group work and discussions
- Independent study
- Tutorial support
- Virtual learning area (Google Classroom/Sites)
Assessment
The Level 2 Award in Learning Support for Adults and Young People with Additional Learning Needs qualification exists as an Award (10 credits), and has four mandatory units and one optional unit.
