Course Description

The Level 2 Diploma in Playwork (QCF) is aimed at staff working directly with children and young people in a setting whose main purpose is to provide children and young people with opportunities for freely chosen, self-directed play. These staff do not have full responsibility for the play environment but make a significant contribution to supporting play.

A total of 18 hours of observations take place, with each observation session being followed by a professional discussion.

There is an opportunity for learners who volunteer to do this qualification.

Entry Criteria

Learners must be in employment in a child care setting (undertaking play activities).

Learners must be over 16 to do this course.

Delivery

Observations, direct learning from the individual, professional discussions, and witness testimonies from the employer.

It is possible for an individual to complete this course through the medium of Welsh or English.

Assessment

Written work, observations, discussions etc.

A minimum of 18 hours of observations are needed to complete both the Level 2 and 3 qualifications.

Work will be on one file an electronic portfolio.

Progression

From the Level 2 it’s possible to progress on to the Level 3 qualification.

(Please note this qualification is a requirement by CIW for people working within a play work setting).
