Course Description

The aim of this course is to enable you to develop your skills to accurately produce routine professional documents and are aiming for employment that involves more complex audio transcription skills within a medical context.

You will learn advanced word processing and audio transcription tools and techniques to underpin your knowledge how to interpret relevant information and use a range of word processing techniques to edit, format and print a range of standard documents that are common in a medical environment. Learn to use mail merge functions to combine information from a data file and produce standard letters.

In addition, you will also learn how to use appropriate checking methods to produce accurate documents, use tools to secure and share documents and files and apply methods to manage version control.

A qualification in Level 3 Medical Audio & Word Transcription can help you succeed in progressing through the NHS Pay Band system in an administrative role in any size or type of NHS organisation, including: Secretary/Administrator.

Entry Criteria

Level 2 Medical Audio & Word Transcription at Pass grade.

Proficiency of word processing skills is desired.

Medical Terminology at Level 2 is highly beneficial for audio transcription.

Taught sessions using discussion, practical exercises/activities, assessments, direct instructions, demonstrations and other learning methods.

Assessment

All work will be assessed through a mixed approach including the following: portfolio of evidence and assessment of practical tasks.
