Course Description

The aim of this course is to enable the you to develop understanding of the communication skills necessary to work in a healthcare team within general practice, hospitals, social care and other associated organisations.

This unit can be used as a progression route from Level 2 Communication Skills in a Medical Environment and can be used to develop your understanding and knowledge with general administrative skills. It will enable you to support the work of the healthcare team through production of appropriate documentation and correspondence in an accurate and professional standard. In addition, this unit will equip you with the skills to communicate effectively in a range of difficult situations, including face-to-face and on the telephone.

A qualification in Level 3 Medical Communication Skills can help you succeed in progressing through the NHS Pay Band system in an administrative role in any size or type of NHS organisation, including: Secretary/Administrator.

Entry Criteria

Good use of the English language is considered beneficial with particular focus on accuracy in spelling.

Delivery

Taught sessions using discussion, practical exercises/activities, worksheets, assessments, direct instructions, lecture sessions, videos and other learning methods.

Homework and independent learning will form an integral part of the course.

Assessment
