Short Course

Course Description

By the end of the course, delegates should be able to:

  • Demonstrate a basic understanding of the industry and their roles and responsibilities
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the relevant regulations, standards and legislation
  • Identify services on plans for water, gas, electricity and telecommunications
  • Survey a site for visual indications of services being present
  • Point out on the ground where services are, in relation to the plans
  • Identify damage to samples of different types of underground apparatus
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the risks and implications of damaged underground apparatus
  • Conduct all pre-operation checks
  • Conduct all necessary safety checks at the work area
  • Correctly use the equipment to scan an area for underground apparatus and record the findings
  • Mark the site clearly to show the location of underground apparatus
  • Correctly clean equipment, remove the battery pack and stow away

Entry Criteria

  • CSCS Touchscreen test completed within the last 2 years.
  • A driving licence is preferred but not essential.
  • Good understanding of spoken and written English
