Course Description

This is a practical course designed for those who are either new to commissioning or servicing pressure-jet oil appliances or who have previously held the qualification but wish to update their skills and knowledge.

This course is designed to provide operatives with an up-to-date refreshment of regulations and take the operative through the correct procedures for combustion analysis and commissioning/servicing of pressure jet oil appliances

OFTEC-101 is required for any operative wishing to carry out work on domestic pressure jet appliances and covers

  • – Codes of practice
  • – Safe electrical isolation
  • – Practical boiler commissioning
  • – Burner servicing
  • – Identifying installation faults
  • – Identifying and rectifying boiler/burner faults
  • – Combustion analysis
  • – Combustion theory
  • – Ventilation requirements

Entry Criteria

Candidates undertaking this course must either be experienced oil operatives, or GAS SAFE registered heating system operatives

(PLEASE NOTE: Proof of previous qualifications will be required at the start of the course)

Practical assessment and multiple-choice question paper

Progression

Candidates who successfully complete the assessment will be eligible to apply to join the OFTEC competent persons scheme
