Course Description
The course will allow you to understand about your camera and digital software. It will also strengthen your existing photographic skills.
You will be introduced to the very basics of photography, from composition and basic camera controls through to Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom.
On the course you will learn about:
- Basic camera controls
- Composition
- Focal lengths
- White balance
- Exposure triangle (aperture, shutter, ISO)
- Editing
- Transferring photographs from your camera to computer
- The contact sheet
- Adobe Photoshop
- Adobe Lightroom
- Some history of photography and photographers

Delivery
Through weekly workshops.
Assessment
Via weekly assignments. A portfolio of your images taken during the course are needed for final assessment.
Progression
Upon completion of the beginner’s photography course you may take the opportunity to move onto the Introduction to Documentary Practice short course. Other opportunities include many other full and part time courses in photography and art and design.
