RTITB Rough Terrain Telehandler Conversion Course

Short Course

Course Description

This course is for operators who have prior formal training on rider operated lift truck.

Entry Criteria

None

Delivery

Learning through a mix of classroom-based teaching and practical exercises

Assessment

Operators are assessed on their:

  • Ability to carry out a pre-use check
  • Theory and understanding of the operating limits and safe working practices
  • Practical Ability to operate the truck safely.

Progression

After completion of this conversion course operators can progress onto other lift trucks

The course is available at our dedicated lift truck training centre in Coleg Menai Llangefni or can be delivered on customer premises.

The RTITB Rough Terrain Telehandler conversion course will give you the skills to operate the truck safely and efficiently, carry out a pre-use inspection, and recall and explain the causes of truck and load instability.

This course covers, but is not limited to, the following areas;

  • Lift truck controls and instruments
  • Starting/moving/stopping and steering the truck
  • Operation of hydraulic controls
  • Off road driving on rough ground and ramps.
  • Vehicle loading and unloading
  • Stacking and de-stacking on a Load Out Tower and free standing stacks.
  • Lift truck stability
  • The operators’ safety code
