Course Description
Are you looking for a career in travel and tourism? Would you like to prepare for a degree course in this field?
This programme provides you with the advanced skills you need to work in the industry or to progress into Higher Education. You will gain a broad understanding of the sector, along with a range of specialist skills.
The course is ideal for students progressing from a relevant Level 2 qualification, or from GCSE studies. It is also suitable if you have a professional background and want to gain new skills.
It provides you with multiple qualifications and a challenging programme of study. You will benefit from a period of work experience and from outside visits, both within the UK and abroad.
Entry Criteria
In order to qualify for this course, you will need at least one of the following:
- 5 GCSEs at grade C or above, including English or Welsh 1st Language and Maths
- A relevant Level 2 qualification at Pass
- Relevant industry experience
As part of the application process, you will be asked to attend an interview to give you the opportunity to discuss the course.

Welsh Baccalaureate
Welsh Baccalaureate is a valuable qualification which is often studied alongside your Level 3 full-time course.
The qualification is graded A*-E, carrying the equivalent UCAS points at Level 3, and equips you with transferable personal and business skills. It is highly regarded by universities and employers alike.
As part of the qualification, you will learn about Global Citizenship, Enterprise and Employability and take part in community engagement and work experience.
Essential Skills
This may include a combination of Application of Number, Communication, Digital Literacy and Essential Employability Skills
GCSE resits
This may include GCSE Numeracy/Maths and/or Welsh/English Language.
Maths & Welsh/English
If you don't achieve a C or above in Maths and/ or English/Welsh, we will support you to retake these subjects as part of your study programme.

Progression
Completion of this course will provide a range of options in employment and education.
The qualification is equivalent to 3 A Levels, whilst the Welsh Baccalaureate is equivalent to another A Level. These achievements will allow you to enter a variety of Higher Education courses at many institutions. If you wish to continue your studies in this subject, Grŵp Llandrillo Menai offer a Foundation and BA Honours Degree in Management of Travel and Tourism.
In employment, you will have gained advanced industry skills and qualities, allowing you to work in a range of careers, either immediately or after further training. This includes employment in local and regional tourism organisations, the national attractions market and the conference and events market, as well as overseas roles with airlines, resorts and tour operators. Alternatively, you could apply your skills to a marketing and sales role, or another profession.
