Learner Calendar
The GLLM learner calendar is a vital component of the learner tutorial, featuring essential dates throughout the year that celebrate national and international events, offering learners the opportunity to lead these initiatives while also highlighting key dates dedicated to supporting learner wellbeing, welfare, and raising awareness of pressing societal issues.
Download the Learner Calendar PDF here, or view our online Learner Calendar here.
These events are supported by staff, students and external organisations. These events ensure that learners are aware of support that is available both internal and external to support them whilst they are studying with us.
Some examples of dates that are celebrated within our colleges are;
World Book Day
This was celebrated with support from the Grwp library staff. Activities were hosted throughout the day, which included engaging quizzes from well known books such as Harry Potter and author Roald Dahl where learners worked together to find the answers from reading the books.
Future Options Week
During Future Options week we hosted a Careers Wales Roadshow. Careers Wales staff attended campuses and hosted a ‘Moving on up roadshow’. This was a great opportunity for learners to ask both Careers Wales advisers and Learner Services staff any questions they might have about university, the world of work, apprenticeships or traineeships, which coincided with the Intended Destination process that learners were doing within their tutorials.
Sustainability: Net Zero
Our college's sustainability event gave learners an opportunity to talk about how important it is to reach Net Zero emissions. GLLM as part of the learner calendar hosted group tutorial activities and stalls in reception areas to highlight how we can all help make a difference, from using renewable energy to reducing waste, we learn simple ways to be more environmentally friendly.
