Following the transport code of conduct is essential for ensuring a safe and respectful environment for all passengers. Adhering to these guidelines not only promotes positive behaviour when travelling to and from college but also helps maintain the smooth operation of transport services, ensuring everyone can travel comfortably and securely.

Guidance for Learners on Attendance Policy
We believe that regular attendance is key to your success. Here’s some guidance to help you understand and adhere to our attendance policy.
1. Understanding the Importance of Attendance
Regular attendance:
Enhances your learning experience.
Prepares you for future professional expectations.
Contributes significantly to your academic success.
2. Attendance Requirements
- Be Present: Aim for 100% attendance, but remember that you must meet at least a 85% attendance rate to avoid disciplinary actions.
- Be Punctual: Arrive on time for all sessions.
3. Reporting Absences
- Inform Early: Notify your course tutor and via the attendance function on eDRAC learner as soon as you know you’ll be absent.
- Documentation: If you’re absent for more than three consecutive days, you will need to provide a valid reason like a medical certificate.
- Authorised Absences: For reasons such as medical appointments, bereavement, religious holidays, personal emergencies, or educational opportunities (like university interviews), you must provide supporting documentation to your personal tutor to request an authorised absence.
4. Monitoring and Support
- Regular Checks: Your attendance is monitored. If it drops below 85%, you will be contacted for support.
- Support Available: Struggling with attendance? Reach out for:
- One-on-one meetings with their tutor.
- Allocated a mentor to support improved attendance
- An attendance action plan
- Referral to Welfare and/or Counselling services.
- Referral to external services
5. Steps for Addressing Poor Attendance
- Initial Warning: If your attendance falls below 85%, you’ll receive an initial warning and must meet with your tutor.
- Action Plan: If there's no improvement, an action plan will be developed to help you improve.
- Final Warning: Continued issues will result in a final warning and a formal review.
- Disciplinary Action: As a last resort, suspension or exclusion may occur for ongoing attendance problems.
6. Appeals Process
- Speak to your tutor: For any attendance-related issues you must firstly contact your Personal Tutor to discuss your concerns
If it is unresolved and disciplinary action is implemented you have the right to;
- Right to Appeal: You can appeal any attendance-related decision within ten working days.
- Appeal Submission: Submit your appeal in writing to the Programme Area Manager.
- Independent Review: Your appeal will be reviewed by an independent panel, whose decision is final.
7. Staying Informed
- Know the Policy: Familiarise yourself with the full attendance policy available on the college website.
- Regular Updates: Look out for reminders and updates through college communication channels
8. Your Responsibilities
- Be Responsible: It’s your duty to attend classes and communicate any attendance issues promptly.
- Engage and Participate: Engage actively in your learning to make the most out of your education.

Using eDRAC learner to report an absence
To report an absence you will need to complete the online form on eDRAC learner. Please be aware that you will need to complete this form for every day that you are absent. Should you miss a lesson, due to an authorised absence, it is essential that you input the time that you will be absent for. Please follow the points below on how to report an absence.
- Click Report Your Absence tile on eDRAC learner
- Click add a new absence
- Select a reason for your absence - Please note that all absences other than sickness or emergency will need to be authorised by your Personal Tutor or Course leader.
- If other - please specify in the box provided
- Input the period of time that you are absent for.
- Tick yes or no if you require any further support for your absence. Please be aware that this will not action an immediate response from the college. Should you require emergency assistance please contact 999.
If you have previously declared an absence, this can be found in the, absence declared this year section. This will also confirm that your absence has been recorded and sent to your personal tutor.
You will need to complete this form for every period of absence.
