Caring Rhyl Students Source Prizes and Donations for Two Charities

Caring Health & Social Care students at Coleg Llandrillo’s Rhyl campus have been busy organising a raffle and collecting a wide range of donations for their annual Christmas fundraiser, which will benefit two charities.

The Level 2 students aimed to “put smiles on people’s faces” after collecting a wide range of donations, which they will now drop-off at Foryd Community Centre Foodbank to help families who may struggle over the festive period.

The kind-hearted students also sourced a range of donations and prizes from local businesses to raffle off in aid of mental health charity MIND. They manned a stall in the college’s main reception, selling raffle tickets to members of staff, students and visitors to the college.

The students spent weeks sourcing the raffle prizes from a wide range of local companies: Flipout - tickets for two people in Chester; Subway - sandwiches and cookies; Chlotique Rhyl - free set of gel nails; Mr Ricky Prince of Desserts - £10 voucher; Sea World Aquatics - £10 voucher; Bonita Beauty Rhyl - gel polish with design, and Kalis - basic dermaplaning facial.

Ones of the students involved, Catrin Blunden from Rhyl, said: “We have all thoroughly enjoyed fundraising for these two worthy charities. It is great to see people who really need it benefitting, especially at this time of the year.”

Health and Social Care tutors Helen and Levi were unanimous in their praise: “We are extremely proud of our students’ achievements at this busy time of year. They used their initiative and chose two extremely worthy causes. Their selflessness and hard work will benefit so many people across North Wales over the Christmas period and beyond. Well done to all of them.”
