Dolgellau Art students visit Cardiff and Liverpool

Art & Design students recently had the opportunity to go on educational visits to the TATE Modern and the Liverpool Museum, before moving on to visit the Art & Design department at Cardiff Metropolitan University.

During the visit to Liverpool, the students had an incredible opportunity to visit a wonderful cross section of modern art and photography.

While visiting Cardiff, the students got a taste of what art schools have to offer at universities, including the kind of resources and opportunities available to pursue a degree in the arts.

While in the capital city, the students had the opportunity to visit Amgueddfa Cymru - National Museum Wales to see one of Europe's most important art collections, including the "Swaps" exhibition by one of Wales's most famous photographers, David Hurn.

Martin J Evans, Head of the Art Department, Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor Dolgellau said:

“It was great to at last be able to get students out and about, to witness some world class art and design. Trips like this are vital for art and design coursework, and to give students an experience of university campuses at a time when they are carefully considering their futures.”

Angharad Love, a student on the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Art & Design course said:

"Visiting Cardiff Met was a very important and valuable trip. Beneficial for giving an insight into universities and what's to be expected."

"The trip to TATE Liverpool was a great experience on viewing a wide range of art. This gave me a new appreciation of my surroundings."
