Creative Arts Students Produce Two Professional Short Films

Students within the Performing Arts and Media Departments at Coleg Menai have had the exciting opportunity to work with the ‘It's My Shout’ production company to create two short films.

The students have had the great opportunity to work alongside the star of crime series ‘Hinterland’, Richard Harrington. The films the students work on will be screened on the BBC and S4C.

Paul Edwards, Programme Area Manager for Media, and Performing Arts, explained,

“This is an excellent opportunity for our learners to work with industry professionals - both in front of the camera and behind the scenes! Valuable experience like this will prepare them for fantastic careers in the industry.”

Many of the past learners that have worked on previous projects with “It’s My Shout” have gone onto work within the industry and gain employment with the BBC, S4C, Netflix, and many other production companies.

Following the production of both films, the learners are then invited to attend the Annual Premiere and Awards evening at St David’s Hall , Cardiff. Students will finally get the chance to watch their finished film on the big screen, as well as network with the celebrity guest list and industry professionals at the red carpet event.

Many past learners have been awarded Best Actor, Best Actress, and Best Runner at the prestigious Awards ceremony. It is hoped that the Premiere and Awards Ceremony will take place in September of this year.
