Degree Apprenticeship student comes runner up at the UK national manufacturing awards!

Degree Apprenticeships provide an alternative route to traditional higher education. Combining full-time work with part-time university study. So, employees can gain a degree whilst remaining in the workplace and upskilling.

Jamie Roles, who studies his Data Science Degree Apprenticeship with Grŵp Llandrillo Menai, was recently recognised for his talent at the ‘Make UK Manufacturing’ national finals, where he came second place out of hundreds of entries.

Judges were extremely impressed, saying: “Jamie has a fantastic career ahead of him. He clearly enjoys what he does, and we look forward to tracking his career over the coming years; he’ll no doubt be leading people in the not-too-distant future.”

Andrew Scott, Programme Leader for Degree Apprenticeships at Grŵp Llandrillo Menai, said: “Jamie demonstrated an excellent work ethic in all of his studies at the college, his achievements are a credit to his hard work, well done Jamie! We really look forward to seeing where Jamie’s career takes him next”.

All Degree Apprenticeship programmes have been designed with work-based learning in mind and with input from employers, so that apprentices learn the skills and knowledge they need to apply in the workplace.

They are fully-funded by Welsh Government and so there is no cost to the employer or apprentice.
