Eight Grŵp Llandrillo Menai students reach WorldSkills UK finals

The successful learners have all made the final eight in their category from across the country

Eight Grŵp Llandrillo Menai learners have been selected to compete at the WorldSkills UK national finals this November.

Evan Klimaszewski has made the UK final for the second year in a row, and is joined by fellow Coleg Menai students Lucas Jackson, Sion Elias and Peter Jenkins.

Evan will compete in the Industrial Electronics category, Sion and Peter in Industrial Robotics, and Lucas in CNC Milling

Coleg Llandrillo hair and beauty student Heather Wynne has also qualified for the final, after achieving first place in the regional hairdressing qualifier in Manchester recently.

Heather said: “I’m delighted to have made the final eight for WorldSkills UK. I know I have a lot of hard work to do practising and preparing for the finals in November.”

Also in the final are Clare Sharples, Carwyn Littlewood and Lauren Harrap-Tyson, who are studying accountancy through Busnes@LlandrilloMenai. They will compete in the accountancy technician category.

All those selected have reached the final eight in the UK after competing in a series of challenging regional competitions across a wide range of disciplines.

“This is testament to the hard work and dedication of our learners, and also to the high-quality education they are receiving through Grŵp Llandrillo Menai. We wish them the best of luck in the national finals in November."

The UK finals will take place at various venues across Greater Manchester from 19-22 November. Finalists will have the chance to compete for places representing the UK at the ‘Skills Olympics’ in Shanghai, China in 2026.

“We look forward to welcoming competitors and partners from all over the UK to showcase excellence in technical skills and drive forward the development of world-class skills for all young people.”

The finalists and medallists will be honoured at Manchester’s prestigious Bridgewater Hall on Friday, 22 November.
