Grŵp Llandrillo Menai alumni and staff contribute to Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol's online Technology conference

Several members of staff from Grŵp Llandrillo Menai were recently chosen to join the subject panel of the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol's online technology conference.

The aim of the conference was to highlight the range of study pathways that could be taken through the medium of Welsh - whether it be academic opportunities, apprenticeship degrees, or jobs, as well as showing the advantage and appeal of Welsh language skills in such jobs.

Grŵp Llandrillo Menai lecturers, Huw Hughes (Computer Science), Marc Jones (Electrical Engineering) and Sion Gravell (Engineering Manager) made valuable contributions at the conference.

In addition, two former students from the group were guest speakers: Ceri Mai, a former Computer Science degree student at Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor, and Siwan Owen, a former Art student at Coleg Menai, who is now associate development manager at Electronic Arts.

Huw Hughes, lecturer in Computer Science at Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor’s Dolgellau campus, said: "We had inspirational and enthusiastic speakers in a variety of roles giving an insight into what they do every day. Hopefully this has helped students with their chosen futures, either as apprentices or within their academic studies."

Sara Davies, the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol’s branch officer added: “It was good to see that so many of the group's students took the opportunity to join in and learn more about the variety of jobs available and the opportunity, at all times, to use the Welsh language.”

The Technology Conference can be listened to online at the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol's Porth page. HERE
