Grŵp partners with local Mind charities for 2024/25
On International Day of Charity, Grŵp Llandrillo Menai has announced that funds raised across its campuses this year will support its local independent mental health charities
Grŵp Llandrillo Menai is proud to announce its local Mind charities as its Partner Charities of the Year for 2024/25.
Conwy Mind is an independent mental health charity which works across Conwy, Anglesey, and Gwynedd. Conwy Mind works closely with Vale of Clwyd Mind, which supports people in Denbighshire.
Funds raised from charity activities across each of the Grŵp’s campuses this year will support the local Mind charity. The charity will also be on hand on to help the Grŵp’s 21,000 learners, with support including:
- Mental Health support
- Group support and activities
- Counselling
- Training
Nikki Jones, Fundraising & Community Engagement Officer for Conwy Mind, said: “Conwy Mind are there to support individuals and communities to build a better understanding of good mental health.
“They want to help as many people as possible because mental health issues affect us all. Over the past year they have helped over 2,300 people that live in Conwy, Anglesey, and Gwynedd.”
Money raised across the Grŵp’s campuses will go a long way to help people suffering with mental health issues - for example:
- £10 could provide a ‘keeping connected’ call to individuals dealing with isolation and loneliness
- £20 could provide an hour’s one-to-one support for a young person
- £40 could provide a one-to-one counselling session
- £125 could provide a five-week one-to-one Supported Self Help Programme
- £300 could support a ‘Mum’s Matter’ nine-week course to help a group of parents to better mental health
- £1500 could support Conwy Mind to offer the full range of support services for one day
One Conwy Mind user described how support from the charity helped transform their life, saying: “Since contacting Conwy Mind, my life has completely turned around. The patience and empathy shown to me has been overwhelming - to suddenly be listened to, believed and to have both my life and self-worth be validated again has given me the desire to rebuild my life.”
Aaron Beacher, Student Experience Enrichment Officer at Grŵp Llandrillo Menai, said: “We are proud to this year be supporting our local Mind charities, which provide invaluable support to people suffering with mental health issues.
“This year we have two nominated charity weeks, the weeks commencing December 9 and April 7. Both weeks will be dedicated to raising money and awareness for either Conwy Mind or Vale of Clwyd Mind, depending on your campus. Please look out for more information closer to the time.
“Please do get in touch with us on studentunion@gllm.ac.uk or undebymyfyrwyr@gllm.ac.uk if you have any ideas for raising funds and/or awareness for these fantastic charities.”
