Grŵp raises more than £600 during Charity Week
Charity activities across Grŵp Llandrillo Menai’s campuses raised vital funds for Conwy Mind, Vale of Clwyd Mind and St David’s Hospice
Grŵp Llandrillo Menai raised more than £600 for local good causes during its annual Charity Week.
The annual Skills for Life and Work Christmas Fair at Coleg Llandrillo’s Rhos-on-Sea campus raised more than £400 for St David’s Hospice.
Raffles, cake sales and other activities also raised £210 for Conwy Mind and Vale of Clwyd Mind, the Grŵp’s Partner Charities of the Year for 2024/25.
Conwy Mind is an independent mental health charity which works across Conwy, Anglesey, and Gwynedd, while Vale of Clwyd Mind supports people in Denbighshire.
At Coleg Llandrillo’s Rhos-on-Sea campus, funds were raised by a raffle to win a Christmas hamper, a ‘Guess the Name of the Teddy’ competition, and a Christmas tea in the university centre, while cakes made by hospitality students in the Bistro were also on sale.
At the Rhyl campus, a Christmas extravaganza featured live performances from singers and even a bagpiper, a ‘design your own Christmas card’ stall, a festive photo wall, and Christmas lunch in the canteen.
There were raffles and Guess the Name of the Teddy at Glynllifon and at Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor’s campuses in Dolgellau and Pwllheli, and a sweets sale and Christmas hamper raffle at Coleg Menai in Llangefni.
Aaron Beacher, Grŵp Llandrillo Menai Student Enrichment Officer, said: “We are proud to this year be supporting Conwy Mind and Vale of Clwyd Mind - charities which provide invaluable support to people who are struggling with their mental health.
“We will continue raising money for the charities throughout next year, and will be holding the next charity week in April. A big thank you to all of the staff and students who have supported these worthy causes.”
Skills for Life and Work departments at Dolgellau, Glynllifon, Llangefni and Rhos held their annual Christmas markets during Charity Week.
The Rhos Christmas market raised £410.40 for St David's Hospice, with stalls selling festive decorations created by the learners, as well as hats and scarves, and refreshments. Art and Design students designed coasters, badges, Christmas cards and decorations for sale at the market, while a tombola also added to the amount raised.
