High Achievers Celebrated at Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor
The achievements of 15 outstanding Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor learners were celebrated at the college’s annual Achievers Award Ceremony yesterday.
Held at Plas Tan Y Bwlch, Maentwrog, the award winners were joined by their family and friends to celebrate their success at the joyous event.
Lecturers from each subject area are invited to nominate students for an award within that discipline, with the winner being chosen by the respective Programme Area Manager. The Principal of the college then selects the Overall Winner,, based on their achievements and academic success.
A-Level learner Olaf Niechcial was crowned the overall winner at the ceremony, where he received an engraved trophy and cheque for £100.
Olaf, from Tremadog, has demonstrated exceptional talent by winning Gold in the UKMT Senior Mathematical Challenge for two consecutive years and earning the Merit award at the Andrew Jobbings Senior Kangaroo competition.
Olaf has secured a conditional offer from Oxford University to study Mathematics in September.
Olaf said,
“It's a privilege to receive this award. Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor has been very supportive of me during my time here. The college has opened so many doors and presented me with many new opportunities."
