Multiply open call to transform community spaces into numeracy hubs

Grŵp Llandrillo Menai's Multiply department is inviting community centres and venues to apply for new furniture and IT equipment to establish effective lifelong learning spaces across Conwy, Denbighshire, Gwynedd and Môn

Grŵp Llandrillo Menai's Multiply department is to establish a network of educational hubs across Conwy, Denbighshire, Gwynedd and Môn.

The Grŵp is inviting community centres and venues across the four counties to apply for new furniture and IT equipment to create effective teaching spaces to host Multiply numeracy and other educational courses.

The project, funded by the UK Government via the Shared Prosperity Fund (SPF), will support 24 community spaces across the four counties, with the aim of benefiting local communities and fostering lifelong learning.

Space in local authority-owned venues or community venues will be converted into bespoke teaching/conference rooms, so that adults returning to learning can access numeracy courses as well as other training and educational opportunities.

Through this work, Multiply will leave a lasting legacy across the four counties, supporting ongoing numeracy development for the hardest to reach areas and learners.

The target is to install new equipment in six community spaces in each of the four counties of Conwy, Denbighshire, Gwynedd and Môn. This will see the installation of equipment including: tutor workstation, interactive screen for presentation, chairs and desks, chromebooks and chromebooks trolleys, to create teaching spaces for up to 20 learners.

These improvements will create vibrant, well-equipped spaces where numeracy courses and other courses can be delivered, offering flexible learning environments that meet the needs of local communities.

To be considered for the opportunity, venues must:

  • Be located within Conwy, Denbighshire, Gwynedd or Môn
  • Demonstrate current or planned use for educational and community learning activities
  • Commit to maintaining and insuring the provided equipment and ensuring linked services such as electricity and Wi-Fi

Interested parties must complete the application form and submit by the deadline of midday on Monday 2nd December 2024. Applicants are asked to provide detailed responses in all sections of the form and attach requested supporting documents.

Applications will be assessed by a scoring panel based on community impact, readiness, sustainability, and alignment with project goals.

Installation work will then begin for successful applications, with the newly refurbished facilities set to open in early 2025.

Sioned Williams, Multiply Project Manager, said: “We are pleased to be able to offer this equipment to community spaces in the four counties.

“Multiply has already empowered more than 2,300 people across Conwy, Denbighshire, Gwynedd and Môn by delivering confidence-boosting and transformative numeracy courses.

“This project will leave a lasting legacy across the four counties following the Multiply project, ensuring the continuation of vital educational opportunities and support for the hardest to reach areas and learners.

“I encourage any interested parties to complete the application form, as it could result in an invaluable lasting educational resource for your community.”
