New Student Exhibition Opens at Dolgellau Arts Centre
An eclectic range of art by students from Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor’s Dolgellau campus has taken centre stage at an exhibition at Ty Siamas, the cultural and artistic centre in Dolgellau.
The work is part of a collaborative art project with staff from Snowdonia National Park to celebrate the park’s 70th birthday.
The college’s Art students - using a variety of mediums - were originally commissioned to celebrate the park and its special features on a new website, which went live last autumn.
Ffion Pugh from Trawsfynydd, a student on the L3 Diploma in Art & Design course at Dolgellau, said: “I thoroughly enjoyed the experience of creating environmental art, which was completely new to me, and to be able to celebrate the National Parks' 70th birthday in the process, was really exciting.”
Martin Evans, course leader on the Art and Design programme, said: “I would like to thank Celf Aran Arts and Ty Siamas in Dolgellau for giving us the opportunity to showcase a selection of the students’ amazing work, which commemorates seven decades of the existence of Snowdonia National Park.”
The work will be on display until the end of February 2022 at Celf Arran, in Ty Siamas.
