Glynllifon student takes first prize at prestigious ceremony in Llandrindod

A Land-based Engineering student from Coleg Glynllifon has scooped a top award for agriculture.

Gwenno Rowlands from the Denbigh area, who is studying for her level 3 qualification in engineering at Coleg Glynllifon, won Lantra Cymru's main award in the category: Young College Learner, under 20 years of age.

What role do colleges play in supporting refugees to integrate into society?

It’s nearly a year since the lives of Ukrainian citizens were devastated and impacted in every way imaginable. Since then, many of those people have found themselves displaced in foreign countries - one of those countries being Wales. I’m glad to say that Ukrainians - as well as refugees of other nationalities - have been welcomed into Welsh communities with open arms. It’s for this reason that I’ve come to write this piece - reflecting on the role of colleges within communities to support refugees.

Students Tool Up

Nearly 150 of Coleg Llandrillo’s Bricklaying, Plumbing, Electrical, Joinery and Plastering students - from first year to degree students - were given the chance to brush-up on their skills recently, when a representative from one of Europe’s leading tool manufacturers gave a series of presentations at the college’s Rhos-on-Sea campus. The learners even built the Stabila logo into a wall to coincide with the visit.
