Rheinallt taking over the airwaves at Môn FM

Rheinallt Wyn Davies can be heard every Saturday night on the Anglesey radio station

Glynllifon staff member Rheinallt Davies recently started as one of Môn FM’s new presenters.

Rheinallt, an administrative assistant at the Glynllifon campus, broadcasts every Saturday night, playing a range of Welsh and English-language music.

Here, he talks about his show, the importance of Welsh-language radio, and how Glynllifon’s students help keep his content engaging.

You've been named as one of Môn FM’s new presenters. How did that come about?

I met with the now chairman of the station during the YFC Eisteddfod back in November 2023. We made friends and I happened to attend his 21st birthday. I haven't looked back since - doing radio is something I always wanted to give a go. I must have the face for it!

Can you give us a taste of the kind of show you’re presenting?

The show is a bit of everything - some chat, plus Welsh and English music. The music is a little bit of everything to hopefully suit all tastes. From 60s to new, and bilingual. Plenty of moidering and not much substance!

How important is community radio?

It's hugely important. We are left with Radio Cymru and S4C broadcasting in Welsh - one of each format in the Welsh Language. We need to do everything we possibly can to keep the Welsh language alive, be that in our day-to-day conversations or over the airwaves!

When can we tune in?

My main show is 10pm-12am on a Saturday evening, but I sometimes jump in the hot seat in Llangefni during the week from time to time. There are plenty of ways to listen - on Monfm.co.uk, via smart speaker, the Môn FM app, or on 96.8, 102.1 and 102.5 FM. Everyone is welcome to follow ‘Rheinallt Davies ar MônFM’ and any MônFM page in general to boost the socials!

Do you think your work in Glynllifon will help you in this role?

Yes, absolutely. Being around some of the youngsters helps me stay young. Hearing what matters to them, and what's currently ‘in’ or not trend and music-wise, is always useful content to any show that I put together.

What do you enjoy about working in Glynllifon?

No two days are the same - there’s never a dull moment here in Glynllifon. I am part of a wider crew of people who make Glynllifon not only a fantastic place to work, but also a hugely successful college.

Glynllifon is a land-based campus with residential facilities, situated on the Glynllifon Estate near Caernarfon. The Glynllifon farm extends to 400 hectares and is a perfect environment for studying countryside management and agricultural studies. To learn more about the courses on offer, click here.
