‘Robust arrangements’ for quality of Higher Education at Grŵp Llandrillo Menai, according to UK’s independent quality body
Grŵp Llandrillo Menai has ‘robust arrangements in place for securing academic standards, managing academic quality, and for enhancing the student experience’, according to a review by the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA). The review commended the college group for its achievements in several areas including student support and online and distance learning.
Three commendations were given in recognition of; the high quality support the Grŵp provides to all Higher Education learners, the comprehensive teaching and learning facilities and particularly the use of technology to deliver an inclusive student learning experience.
Lawrence Wood, Principal at Coleg Llandrillo, said, “The outcome of this review demonstrates the Grŵp’s commitment to delivering high quality, local, Higher Education provision supporting economic growth in the region. This is also recognition of the hard work and commitment of our staff to support every individual learner to achieve. Looking forward, we will continue to develop our provision ensuring it meets the needs of the employers and the communities we serve."
He added: “We would like to thank the QAA, the panel for the way they undertook the review, and to our staff and learners who participated actively in the review.”
Grŵp Llandrillo Menai continues to expand its portfolio of Higher Education courses, both independently and in partnership with Higher Education institutions including the University of Central Lancashire, Glyndŵr University and Edexcel. As well as the more traditional honours degree programmes and higher nationals, the college has been at the forefront in developing and promoting innovative and unique Foundation Degrees and vocational courses.
The £4.5million University Centre Coleg Llandrillo (UCCL) at the college’s Rhos-on-Sea campus, which was built in partnership with Bangor University and is the base for nearly 1,000 learners, provides Higher Education students with bespoke teaching and learning facilities in one dedicated centre, rather than in different locations across the campus.
