STUDENTS’ FILMS BROADCAST ON NATIONAL TELEVISION
Media and Performing Arts students at Coleg Menai will soon see their two short films broadcast on BBC Wales and S4C.
Working in partnership with film making company ‘It’s My Shout’, Media students helped to film, edit and produce the films. Performing Arts students performed a variety of roles including lead and supporting roles, as well as background artists.
‘It’s My Shout’ specialises in finding and developing new talent for the film industry. The company works with communities and educational establishments to produce short films for their broadcast partners, BBC and S4C, and to find developing new talent for the film industry.
This year, the Coleg Menai students had the great opportunity to work alongside the star of crime series ‘Hinterland’, Richard Harrington.
‘Swimming with Dolphins' is scheduled to be shown on Tuesday 12th October at 11.15pm on BBC 2 Wales.
Welsh language short film ‘Dalen’ will be broadcast on Wednesday 27th October at 9.30pm on S4C.
Paul Edwards, Programme Area Manager for Media, and Performing Arts, explained,
“This is an excellent opportunity for our learners to work with industry professionals - both in front of the camera and behind the scenes! Valuable experience like this will prepare them for fantastic careers in the industry.”
“Many of the past learners that have worked on previous projects with 'It’s My Shout' have gone onto work within the industry and gain employment with BBC, S4C, Netflix, and many other production companies”
