Students Host Movie Showcase

Coleg Menai’s Level 3 Creative Media students will soon showcase their film-making skills at the college’s first ever Movie Premiere evening.

Held from 7pm at Pontio in Bangor on the 6th June, the event will include a series of short films created by the students, in the form of music videos, documentaries, short films, and promotional videos, within genres such as horror, animation, and sport.

Craig Roberts, Coleg Menai’s Media lecturer will be presenting the evening, where the audience will also be able to vote for their favourite film.

The audience will also be treated to live performances from Coleg Menai’s Music students before the show and during the intervals.

Richard Williams, Creative Media lecturer at Coleg Menai said,

“This is an exciting opportunity for the learners to show off their skills and to draw attention to the range of new talent that is emerging in North Wales. This evening is all about them; to get the attention they deserve and to have the thrill of seeing their hard work up on the big screen with an audience”.

He added, “The showcase is a chance for the students to show off the work they have been working on during their time with Coleg Menai, and to give the audience a taste of the kind of work involved in the Creative Media course”.

A spokesperson from Pontio said,

“It is a great pleasure to welcome Coleg Menai to Pontio Cinema. We firmly believe in allowing young filmmakers to showcase their work on the big screen to an audience. Many up-and-coming filmmakers don't get the privilege to screen their work, and this will be a great occasion to give them the freedom to express themselves through the art of cinema”.

Tickets for the Movie Premiere are available here, for £5.
