A series of performance and wellbeing seminars, hosted by Coleg Llandrillo, starting January 2025.

We will be holding six seminars over 2025, each will cost £10 or £40 for all six.

Sam Downey/Steve Kehoe - Lecturer of Sport Coaching and Exercise Science
Mental Fatigue in Sport
Coleg Llandrillo - University Centre, Rhos-on-Sea Campus: Thursday 13 February, 6pm
A graduate of Loughborough University, Sam is currently a Lecturer of Sport Coaching and Exercise Science.
A former professional football player, playing in the English, Swedish, Icelandic and American leagues, Sam is currently the Performance Coach for the FAW men’s age groups, most recently attending the 2024 Men’s U17 European Championships in Cyprus.
He is currently undertaking a PhD in Sport and Rehabilitation Sciences at the University of Birmingham, with his current thesis and research focusing on the effects of Mental Fatigue and Brain Endurance Training in Soccer Performance.

Neil Cottrill - Head of Coaching and Development, PGMOL
Decision Making Under Pressure in Sport: Supporting the Wellbeing of Match Officials
Coleg Llandrillo - University Centre, Rhos-on-Sea Campus: Thursday 6 March, 6pm
Neil is a former international badminton player (winning his first England cap vs China at Gateshead Stadium) and achieved a highest world ranking of #12 in men’s doubles.
Following his playing career, he spent ten years lecturing in Sports Coaching and Exercise Science and has also been coaching elite performers across a range of sports over the last 30 years.
He moved into the coach development environment as Head of Coaching, Education and Training with Badminton England, transforming the approach towards coach education then moved to PGMOL following the Rio Olympics to lead the support and development of the coaches working with the nation’s top match officials.
Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) is the body responsible for refereeing games in English professional association football and separately owned by the FA, the Premier League and Football League.
