Gym & Sports Academies
All students are welcome to use the college sports facilities available at the Bangor and Rhos-on- Sea campuses, regardless of where they study. You may need to book in advance to use the facilities, and there may be a charge. At Dolgellau and Pwllheli, students can use the facilities at the Leisure Centre in town for a fee.
The cost for annual term-time-only Gym membership is £40 per annum. Alternatively, you can purchase Gold membership for £100 per annum, which, in addition to daytime access, also entitles you to evening and weekend access throughout the year.
A range of sports are on offer at the different campuses, including athletics, badminton, basketball, football, hockey, netball, rugby and squash. Promising athletes may be selected to play in college teams and perhaps to complete at a national level.
If you are interested in continuing with a sport at college, please discuss this with staff at the campus where you would like to study. It may be possible to study an academic or vocational course at one campus and to continue with your sport at another campus.
Sport Academies
We have sports academies at our Bangor and Rhos-on- Sea campuses. These provide athletes in North Wales with the opportunity to study for A-levels or other Level 3 qualifications, whilst also improving their fitness and skills in football, rugby and other sports. Promising players may also be selected to play at regional or national level.
Academi Llandrillo and Academi Menai
Academi Llandrillo and Academi Menai are initiatives which give talented athletes an opportunity to fully develop their sporting potential, whilst also achieving academically to the best of their abilities.
Our sports academies combine sport with a choice of academic and vocational courses to suit different abilities and aptitudes. This means that you don't have to choose between getting qualifications and playing and training in a sport that you love – you can do both! Our academies also provide you with opportunities to be selected to play at regional and national level, so you can realise your full potential.
