Frequently Asked Questions
Why do I need to disclose my ALN?
It is very important that, if you are planning on attending college, that you advise the Additional Learning Needs team of your support needs as soon as possible. This is because we want to be certain that we can meet your support needs before you join our courses.
How can I access support?
Contact a Learning Support Coordinator and they will discuss your support needs.
At school I had one to one support. Will I get the same support at college?
We will attend your School Annual review meetings. We'll start thinking about what you can expect from your college support after we attend your school annual review or you get in touch. Support is tailored on an individual basis and is dependent on your Additional Learning Need.
Do you provide personal care support?
Personal Care support is part of our Additional Learning provision. If you let us know of your needs, a member of the team will contact you to put together a personal care plan to ensure that your needs will be met at college.
Is support available at break and lunchtimes?
Depending on individual person-centred needs, we can arrange support during break and lunchtimes.
Will I get numeracy/literacy support?
You can access numeracy and literacy sessions (Skills) as part of your college programme.
I had exam access arrangements in school. Do I need to inform the college?
Yes, we arrange assessments for exam access arrangements for any learner whose learning profile and normal way of working qualifies them for exam access arrangements.
How will I travel to college?
We will signpost you to Learner Services who can support travel arrangements to college .
