ABBE Level 3 Certificate in Domestic Energy Assessment

This professional qualification is designed for individuals pursuing a career as a Domestic Energy Assessor (DEA). Upon qualification, DEAs can register with an Accreditation Scheme, allowing them to produce Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) for existing homes (excluding newly built properties) in accordance with legislation implementing the Energy Performance of Buildings.

In this three-day classroom course, you will acquire the skills needed to assess domestic dwellings and generate accurate EPCs for residential properties. As part of the classroom tuition, you will have the opportunity to work with two simulated EPC test cases, covering a variety of property ages and types. Additionally, you will be required to complete three additional test EPCs independently as part of your assessed portfolio. This will demonstrate your practical knowledge in conducting energy assessments for domestic dwellings.

Please Note: Candidates must source and complete three EPC test cases practically. Your test cases must meet the requirements of the ABBE property matrix, which you will receive with your training materials.

Upon successfully completing and passing your portfolio, you will be awarded the ABBE Level 3 certificate and will be eligible to join any leading DEA Accreditation Scheme.

Important Information

When applying to become an accredited Domestic Energy Assessor, you will need to provide a basic disclosure certificate (DBS/CRB) issued within the past three years. More information is available here.
