Part-Time

Course Description

The core element is theory-based and so aimed at those wanting to develop a career within the children and young people's sector such as support workers, foster care workers or workers in residential schools or specialist childcare centres.

This qualification is required for learners to work in specific job roles within the health and social care sector as set out in Social Care Wales Qualification Framework for social care and child care.

The Level 3 Health and Social Care: Practice (Children and Young people) qualification will enable learners to develop and demonstrate their knowledge, understanding, behaviours, skills and practice within a health and social care setting.

Entry Criteria

Satisfactory interview and meet the requirements of PLA funding (for the full diploma individuals must be contracted in the sector for a minimum of 16 hours).

Delivery

Self-study, online taught sessions.

Assessment

1 multiple choice exam which is externally assessed

Completion of a portfolio of evidence (Using the Onefile e-portfolio)

Progression

On successful completion of the core element it is possible to progress to the practical element of the qualification, thus enabling an individual to gain the full Level 3 Diploma in Children and Young People.

To gain the practical element an individual must be employed within the sector for a minimum of 16 hours and either be successful in gaining a place on the apprenticeship or pay for this element themselves.
