Course Description

This course is intended for anyone interested in a career in the hairdressing or the beauty therapy sector, you will need to be committed to your learning and will need to buy a kit and uniform for the course.

The qualification consists of:

BTEC Level 1 Certificate in Vocational Studies:

  • Being organised
  • Developing a personal progression plan
  • Contributing to salon-related tasks
  • Demonstrating nail art
  • Demonstrating make-up techniques

Level 1 Certificate in an Introduction to Hair & Beauty:

  • Introduction to the hair and beauty sector
  • Presenting a professional image in a salon
  • Shampoo and conditioning
  • Women’s hair styling
  • Create an image using colour for the hair and beauty sector

Certificate in Personal and Social Education:

  • Study skills
  • Improving own confidence
  • Skills development
  • Problem solving
  • Understanding prejudice and discrimination

2 GCSEs at E grade

Maths & Welsh/English

If you don't achieve a C or above in Maths and/ or English/Welsh, we will support you to retake these subjects as part of your study programme.
