Course Description

Are you preparing for a career in beauty therapy?

On the programme, you will learn about body therapy, including: pre-blended body massage, spa, spa treatments, stone therapy, Indian head massage, anatomy and physiology.

This programme is suited to those from the care sectors or from a Level 3 beauty background and also to mature students showing sensitivity and enthusiasm for the subject.

Entry Criteria

In order to qualify for this course, you will need at least one of the following:

  • A relevant Level 2 qualification at Pass
  • Relevant industry experience
  • You will also require an attendance level of 86% in your previous year of study

As part of the application process, you will be asked to attend an interview to give you the opportunity to discuss the course.

Delivery

The programme will be delivered through a blend of the following:

  • Practical delivery
  • Theory sessions
  • Commercial salon training
  • Virtual Learning Environment

You will study a variety of subject-specific modules, in addition to some specialised modules and Literacy and Numeracy skills. You will also undertake work experience as part of the programme.

Your programme will include a combination of:

  • Essential Skills qualifications and/or
  • GCSE resits and/or
  • The Welsh Baccalaureate
Welsh Baccalaureate

Welsh Baccalaureate is a valuable qualification which is often studied alongside your Level 3 full-time course.

The qualification is graded A*-E, carrying the equivalent UCAS points at Level 3, and equips you with transferable personal and business skills. It is highly regarded by universities and employers alike.

As part of the qualification, you will learn about Global Citizenship, Enterprise and Employability and take part in community engagement and work experience.

Essential Skills

This may include a combination of Application of Number, Communication, Digital Literacy and Essential Employability Skills

GCSE resits

This may include GCSE Numeracy/Maths and/or Welsh/English Language.

Maths & Welsh/English

If you don't achieve a C or above in Maths and/ or English/Welsh, we will support you to retake these subjects as part of your study programme.

Assessment

The programme is assessed through a blend of the following:

  • Observation
  • Online assessments
  • Written and Oral Tests

Progression

The programme gives you a qualification and a valuable set of skills, helping you to progress into employment and higher education.

You could proceed onto a degree-level programme at Grŵp Llandrillo Menai, such as the Foundation Degree (FdA) Management and Business, or a specialised degree programme at another institution.

Alternatively, you could enter employment. Successful completion of the qualification enables you to practise on the Medical Register.
