Course Description

Are you looking for a career in travel and tourism or employment with a local business? Do you want a vocational route through Further Education?

This course prepares you with a variety of skills that you need for industry; along with a more specialist set of skills aimed at the tourism industry.

The course is suitable for students progressing from a relevant Level 1 qualification, or from GCSE studies. It provides you with multiple qualifications and a starting point for your career. You will also be able to benefit from educational trips within the UK.

Entry Criteria

In order to qualify for this course, you will need at least one of the following:

  • 3 GCSEs at grade D or above, including English or Welsh 1st Language and Maths, and 1 GCSE at grade E, or Entry 3 / Level 1 ESQ in Numeracy and Communication
  • A relevant Level 1 qualification at Pass
  • Relevant industry experience

As part of the application process, you will be asked to attend an interview to give you the opportunity to discuss the course.

Maths & Welsh/English

If you don't achieve a C or above in Maths and/ or English/Welsh, we will support you to retake these subjects as part of your study programme.

Progression

Completion of this course will provide a range of options in employment and education. You will have gained advanced industry skills and qualities, allowing you to work towards a range of careers, either directly or after further training. This includes employment in local and regional tourism organisations, local businesses, the national attractions market and the conference and events market, as well as overseas roles with airlines, resorts and tour operators.

In education, you will be able to progress onto a range of Level 3 qualifications, and there are a number of programmes at Grŵp Llandrillo Menai, including Travel and Tourism Level 3, Business Level 3.
