Course Description
Are you looking for a career in the motor vehicle and transport industries? Would you like to gain experience in aeronautical/automotive refinishing? This course enhances your technical and academic knowledge of repairing and painting technologies. It brings your abilities up to industry level and prepares you for your career in the industry.
The course is suitable for students progressing from Vehicle Body Repair Level 1 (or equivalent qualifications). It is also available to school leavers, employees within the vehicle industry and professionals from other industries.
It is approved by the Sector Skills Council (SSC), ensuring that it meets the quality requirements of the industry.
Entry Criteria
In order to qualify for this course, you will need at least one of the following:
- 3 GCSEs at grade D or above, and 1 GCSE at grade E, including English or Welsh 1st Language and Maths, or Entry 3 / Level 1 ESQ in Numeracy and Communication
- A relevant Level 1 qualification at Pass
- Relevant industry experience
As part of the application process, you will be asked to attend an interview to give you the opportunity to discuss the course.

The Centre for Automotive Technology at the Rhyl Campus is equipped to the latest industry standards, including Heavy Goods Vehicle Brake Tester, 4 Wheel Drive Rolling Road Dynamometer, 4-Wheel Alignment, a superb Auto-Electronics Diagnostic Room, USI Spray Booths, Lechler Mixing Scheme, Car-OLiner Body Jig and Alignment System, Welding Bays, Valeting Bay, plus Hybrid Technology and Vehicle Climate Control Systems.

Maths & Welsh/English
If you don't achieve a C or above in Maths and/ or English/Welsh, we will support you to retake these subjects as part of your study programme.

The course will also prepare you for studying at a more advanced level.
