Work Based Care Learner Recognised by JISC

Busnes@LlandrilloMenai learner Catherine Louise Rider (Kate) has been recognised for positively embracing Education Technology. She’s a mature learner studying Health and Social Care while working for Michael Phillips Care Agency Ltd.

When Kate first started her training she had no experience with computers or technology of any kind and was struggling with the basics. As with many qualifications a percentage of teaching and assessment is done online which meant that Kate needed to gain ICT skills fast.

Work Based Learning Assessor Yasmin Moore, praised Kate and said:

“Kate has shown great determination to improve her digital literacy. We were able to arrange for her to loan a Chromebook to support her learning. She also attended face-to-face sessions with me where we worked on building her ICT skills and confidence. She has mastered online meetings, her online reviews, she’s able to leave feedback for the assessor, edit her work and organise important documents.

“I am proud to say that with Kate's positive attitude and willingness to learn, she has been able to develop her skills and has made a significant change to her outlook on digital technology whilst maintaining and practising these new skills. Kate is a mature student, who has presented a positive attitude throughout her qualification. This has helped to develop her knowledge and skills, and provide her with confidence. In my judgement, I believe that Kate thoroughly deserves this award for her patience, time and proactive approach to learning new skills regarding education technology.”
