Mona Lifting
One of the first companies to receive this support is Llangefni-based Mona Lifting - a leading north Wales lifting and engineering company. Founded in 2005, the business is driven by its values - safety, quality, service and responsibility. They are passionate about protecting the environment as well as investing in their people and local community. This is why Operations Director, Gethin Jones was so keen to sign up to the Green Digital Academy.
The challenge - REACHING NET ZERO by 2030
The goal for Mona Lifting is to remain commercially viable whilst reducing carbon emissions and environmental impacts.
Gethin explains: “Our success is based on firm principles and we take our responsibility towards developing our business and staff, as well as contributing to the local community very seriously. Today more than ever, this also means being responsible for the environment and playing our part in tackling climate change. We are determined to do this by reducing our carbon emissions.”
What the experts say - TACKLING EMISSION HOTSPOTS
Most of the carbon at Mona Lifting comes from indirect emissions, this means through purchased goods and services. The company already has an environmental management system in place which puts them on the right track. To further tackle emission hotspots and to help the business reach their target a phased action plan has been drawn up with recommendations focussing on developing local supply chains, greener electricity tariffs, on-site power generation and the installation of EV charge points.
The outcome - A PATHWAY TO CARBON REDUCTION
The Green Digital Academy has helped Mona Lifting on their decarbonisation journey, as Gethin highlights the benefits of the project: “With a thorough analysis of our operations our local consultant has helped us understand which parts of the business we need to focus on and has mapped how we can achieve net zero by 2030. Having support has meant we have been able to focus on delivering for our customers in the knowledge that experts are looking at how we can reduce our carbon footprint.”
