The aims of the session were to increase awareness of the range of psychology courses provided by Bangor University, and to learn more about the university’s Welsh-medium provision.

The students enjoyed learning about a variety of themes and components within the realms of psychology during a seminar delivered by the university’s Delyth Kerr. They also took part in a range of problem-solving tasks, which encouraged them to discuss how the brain processes information.

Coleg Meirion Dwyfor A-level Psychology lecturer Nikki Lin Williams said: “We are very proud of the partnership we have with Bangor University, especially our bond with its Psychology department. Delyth Kerr had such a vivid understanding on how to encourage our A-level Psychology students into pursuing the subject into higher education.

“The college also places a great deal of importance on the fact that our students can follow our A-level Psychology course through the medium of Welsh. Across north west Wales there is a growing need for such professionals who can work through the mediums of both Welsh and English. A Psychology degree opens up many career opportunities: mental health counsellors, child psychologists, and speech and language therapists to name but a few.”
