Myfyrwyr Peirianneg yn serennu mewn cystadleuaeth F1
Yn ddiweddar, cynhyrchodd myfyrwyr peirianneg yng Ngholeg Meirion-Dwyfor y car cyflymaf mewn cystadleuaeth ranbarthol, Gogledd Cymru ar gyfer myfyrwyr sy'n astudio pynciau STEM.
Hanfod y gystadleuaeth, a gynhaliwyd yn Venue Cymru, Llandudno, oedd creu car Fformiwla 1 gan ddefnyddio technoleg Fusion 360 a pheiriant melino CNC. Ar ôl rowndiau cynderfynol cystadleuol iawn, dewiswyd dau dîm o Goleg Meirion-Dwyfor i fynd drwodd i'r rowndiau terfynol.
‘Purple Bullet’ - oedd y tîm a gynrychiolodd campws Pwllheli, oedd yn cynnwys Daniel, Scott, Loui, Ryan a Jac, sydd i gyd yn astudio cwrs BTEC Lefel 3 Peirianneg Uwch yn y coleg.
Bu tîm ‘Dreigiau Dolgellau’ yn cynrychioli safle Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor yn Nolgellau, a oedd yn cynnwys myfyrwyr Peirianneg, Gethin, Ned a Sïon - a enillodd y wobr am y car cyflymaf.
Yn ystod y dydd bu’r myfyrwyr yn arddangos eu gwaith, yn rhoi cyflwyniad llafar i banel o feirniaid ac yn cyflwyno darluniau technegol, yn ogystal â chymryd rhan mewn cyfres o rasys.
Meddai Emlyn Evans, Darlithydd Peirianneg yng Ngholeg Meirion-Dwyfor,
"Yn ystod y 3 mis diwethaf mae'r myfyrwyr wedi cynnal sesiynau amrywiol i godi arian ar gyfer tâl mynediad y gystadleuaeth, cludiant i'r digwyddiad, a chrysau-t. Roedd gan bob dysgwr ran bwysig i'w chwarae fel rhan o'r tîm i sicrhau eu llwyddiant."

The essence of the competition, held at Venue Cymru in Llandudno, was to create a formula 1 car using Fusing 360 technology and a DNC milling machine. After very competitive semi-finals, two teams from Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor were chosen to go through to the finals.
‘Purple Bullet’ - the team representing the Pwllheli campus, included Daniel, Scott, Loui, Ryan and Jac, who are all studying the BTEC Level 3 Advanced Engineering course at the college.
The ‘Dreigiau Dolgellau’ team represented Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor’s site in Dolgellau, which included Engineering students, Gethin, Ned and Sïon - who won the award for the fastest car.
During the day the students exhibited their work, gave an oral presentation to a panel of judges and presented technical drawings, as well as taking part in a series of races.
Emlyn Evans, Engineering Lecturer at Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor said,
"During the last 3 months the students have held various sessions to raise money for the competition's entry fee, transport to the event, and t-shirts. Each learner had an important part to play as part of the team to ensure their success."
