Cyn-fyfyrwraig yn Cyhoeddi ei Llyfr Cyntaf!

Mae Connie Mabbott, a fu'n astudio Celf a Dylunio ym Mharc Menai rhwng 2010 a 2012, wedi cyhoeddi ei llyfr cyntaf sef ‘Customising Clothes with Embroidery’.

Mewn sesiynau gyda'i thiwtor Soo Rees-Jones yng Ngholeg Menai, sylweddolodd Connie ei bod wrth ei bodd â gwaith tecstil a brodwaith.

Aeth Connie yn ei blaen i astudio Dylunio Tecstilau ym Mhrifysgol Dinas Birmingham ac erbyn hyn mae hi wedi sefydlu ei busnes brodwaith ei hun 'Connie's World' ac yn gweithio fel Cynorthwyydd Brodwaith Priodasol yn y Couture Company yn Birmingham.

Mae ‘Customising Clothes with Embroidery’ yn addysgu ac yn dangos i'r darllenydd sut i roi bywyd newydd i ddillad yn defnyddio brodwaith rhydd. Mae'r llyfr ar gael i'w brynu ar wefan y cyhoeddwyr, 'Pen and Sword'.

Dywedodd Connie,

"Dw i'n gobeithio y bydd y llyfr yn annog pobl i ddefnyddio'r hyn sydd ganddyn nhw'n barod - ailddefnyddio, ac yn eu hysbrydoli i feddwl am eu dyluniadau eu hunain yn defnyddio'r technegau dw i wedi'u cynnwys. Mae'r cyfan yn defnyddio brodwaith rhydd ar beiriant gwnïo arferol ac yn sgil eithaf anodd. Mae'n dechrau gyda syniadau syml iawn i ddechreuwyr ac yna'n mynd ymlaen i drafod rhai llawer mwy cymhleth gyda phrosiectau manwl iawn erbyn y diwedd. Mae hyn yn golygu bod rhywbeth i bawb roi cynnig arni, waeth beth fo lefel eu gallu!"

Connie Mabbott, who studied Art and Design at Parc Menai from 2010 to 2012, has published her first book, ‘Customising Clothes with Embroidery’.

During her time at Coleg Menai, Connie discovered she had a passion for textile work and embroidery during sessions delivered by course tutor Soo Rees-Jones.

Connie went on to study Textile Design at Birmingham City University, and by now has established her own embroidery business, ‘Connie’s World’, whilst also working as Bridal Embroidery Assistant at the Couture Company in Birmingham.

‘Customising Clothes with Embroidery’ teaches and guides the reader on how to upscale clothing through the use of free motion embroidery. The book is available to purchase directly from the publishers ‘Pen and Sword’ online.

Connie said,

“I hope the book encourages people to use what they have - to upcycle, and inspires them to come up with their own designs using the techniques I have included. It’s all using free-motion embroidery, which uses a regular sewing machine and isn’t the easiest skill, so it starts with some very simple ideas for beginners and progresses into much more difficult, detailed projects towards the end. This means there’s something for everyone to try, whatever their ability!”
